Thought build me a media server, checked a little bit about UPnP should be no problem getting. The idea is that it stores all the movies & all the music I currently have on my computers and hard disk recorders.
- For film, the question is what - my 2 hd-recorder drive is not in the network.
- Buying a complete "UPnP compatible" playback or build computer?
If I use a Linux machine filmuppspelare maybe I can skip Squeeezebox - but I want to be able to choose the radio without turning on the TV, also want a display that shows artist & låtnamn.
More thoughts:
1) What is required for hardware media server - large disks course & gigabit-line, both are. This will surely only think of film & music files, the actual playing is done by the client? Ie no requirement for graphics & sound card if I understand correctly?
2) Is it appropriate to use the media server disk storage for all data, or is the risk of overloading on the (at worst) at the same time should think of a movie to TV, music to one daughter and I sit o editing my thin films that are stored there?
(I have hardware for a number of computers, from PIII to Intel Celeron 2 GHz & AMD Athlon 64-bit around 2.4 GHz.).
